is compatible with the Apache Web server or any third-party Web server that supports the common gateway interface (CGI) or FastCGI protocol mechanism. The RapidControl family includes RapidControl for Web and RapidControl for Applets, which provide Web- and Java-based management, and MIBway. MIBway bridges the gap between Web- and Java-based device management and the SNMP agent. Other new features include extensive example code annd a step-by-step tutorial to get MIBway running.
RapidControl v. 2.4 is platform-independent and provides integration with all major RTOSes and SNMP stacks.

Multimedia processor
The
TM-1300
is the latest member of the TriMedia processor family. The media processor handles up to 6.5 billion
operations per second. It provides system-on-a-chip functionality for a variety of digital applications. Like other TriMedia processors, the TM-1300 is powered by an advanced very long instruction word programmable CPU, capable of processing up to five instructions per clock cycle and supporting an RTOS. The TM-1300 is available in 143MHz and 166MHz versions. Both are sampling now and will be in full production in the fourth quarter of 1999. Pricing for the 143MHz version starts at $35 in large quantities.

Wireless PDA reference design
WebPDA
is a freely distributed reference design package for wireless PDAs that was developed in conjunction with Mitsubishi Electric, Sun Microsystems, and Espial Group.
The wireless PDA platform enables OEMs to implement and bring to market wireless PDA and other Internet-enabled Java-based intelligent devices optimized for and extendable to mobile applications such as cell phones, video and Web phones, smart remote controllers, and hand-held industrial/inventory terminals. The WebPDA employs Suns PJava, along with ISIs pSOS+ real-time operating sistem, which is optimized for Internet appliances. The reference design is based on Mitsubishis virtual
remote personal computer hardware design and embedded M32R microprocessor, and incorporates Espials Devicetop, the consumer-oriented Java applications and services environment. WebPDA will be available in October.
